Specialty Car Brakes
1954 Chevy
The term "Specialty Car" covers a wide range of street rods, hot
rods, and pro touring cars from the late 1940’s to present.
The category includes vehicles like the Tri-Five
Chevys, restored muscle cars and mildly modified 1959 through 1970 cars, sometimes
called Resto-Mods, as well as a few foreign cars such
as the early Anglia, Prefect, Fiat, VW, MG sports car,
Austin Healey, Sunbeam Tiger and the Cobra.
Wilwood Engineering offers brake kits that fit most of these
specialty cars. Along with the brake kits, we also have a wide assortment of
brake related parts such as master cylinders,
proportioning valves,
residual valves, and
brake pads.
Wilwood has released the Forged Dynalite Big
Brake Front Hub Kit, part number 140-7676, for the popular
‘55-‘57 Tri-Five Chevys. This kit provides the added advantage of larger
diameter brake rotors for Chevys equipped with the original front spindles. The
kit features forged billet Dynalite calipers in black
or polished finish with 12.19-inch rotors in your choice of standard, slotted
or drilled and slotted styles.
The Dynapro Low-Profile Rear Parking
Brake Kit, part number 140-11405, provides a complete solution for Tri-Five
Chevys that are still using
the original rear differentials, as well as other muscle car rear axle applications
that require a parking brake assembly and extra clearance for disc brake
specific or aftermarket 14.00" to 15.00" rims. The kit includes forged billet,
low-profile four-piston calipers in black and 11-inch one piece hat and rotor
assemblies in your choice of
standard, slotted or drilled and slotted styles.
Wilwood also offers a kit for Tri- Five Chevys with rear differentials
that have been changed to a Chevy 10 or 12-bolt or a Ford 9-inch. The Chevy and
Ford differentials can be equipped with the
Forged Dynalite, part number 140-2112,
featuring forged Dynalite calipers in black and 12.19-inch rotors in standard, slotted or
drilled and slotted styles. This kit is designed for cars where individual rear
parking brake assemblies are not required. The Chevy and Ford differentials can
also be equipped with the
Forged Dynalite Rear Parking Brake Kit, part number 140-7139, that features an
internal parking brake assembly. Kit includes forged Dynalite
calipers in a black, red or polished finish with standard, slotted or drilled
and slotted 12.19-inch rotors.
1969 Camaro
For pro touring builders, an intermediate alternative to our
Superlite 6 kits is the
Dynapro 6 Big Brake Front Hub Kit, part number 140-10737,
featuring the Dynapro
six-piston caliper in a black powder finish. This kit includes large features
12.19-inch rotors in slotted or drilled and slotted styles.
The ‘59 through ‘64 Chevys remain popular with specialty car
enthusiasts, many turning them into mild street machines and some into wilder pro
touring cars. Wilwood offers brake kits that can effectively bring these big
Chevys down from speed such as the
Forged Dynalite Pro Series Front Brake Kit, part number 140-5329,
featuring forged Dynalite calipers in
a black or polished finish and 11.00 or 11.75-inch rotors
in standard or drilled and slotted styles. The
Superlite 6R Big Brake Front Hub Kit, part
number 140-10238 a favorite of pro
touring builders, can also be used. It features billet narrow SL6 radial mount calipers
in black or red powder coat finish and 12.88 or 14.00-inch rotors in slotted
and drilled and slotted styles. If the SL6 caliper isn’t big enough, you can
upgrade to our giant W6A and W4A calipers. Wilwood also offers the
Forged Dynalite Rear Parking Brake Kit, part number 140-7149, for
early Chevys with an internal parking brake. It features forged
Dynalite calipers in black, red powder coat and polished finishes with
